Private WW1 tour of the Western Front with transport
Once picked up from you location of choice (in either Arras or Amiens - both towns have direct train lines from Paris or Lille). We will start the day by visiting the Victoria School and museum then onward to the Australian memorial. The morning will be dedicated to Australian actions in 1918 and how Villers-Bretonneux became such a symbol to Australians still to date.
Stopping for a light lunch we then travel towards the 1916 Battle of the Somme. Here you will get a full understanding on what unfolded here and the disastrous human losses during the 4 and half months it dragged out. Along with visits to the main areas, this will include the Australian highlight which is Pozieres where in six weeks the AIF lost 23, 000 men in casualty.
The tour includes visits to major vestiges left behind such as a massive mine crater, where we will be able to discuss mining warfare, to trench warfare as you will get the opportunity to visit and walk through trenches from the battle of the Somme.
