Fun stories and James Bond locations in the quaint neighbourhood of Chelsea
Get off the beaten track and join me in West London. This walk is focused around the Chelsea district. It's a beautiful place, the buildings centuries old and a wonderful hodgepodge of different styles.
Chelsea has many famous past residents, from Oscar Wilde and Mark Twain to The Rolling Stones. It's a huge draw for spy fans, as John le Carré set his stories here, and the life of James Bond can be traced in locations ranging from his London address to where Ian Fleming lived and wrote Bond's first adventure, 'Casino Royale' (on a golden typewriter he bought specifically for the task, of course).
And to make the James Bond aspect of the tour complete, we'll take in views of MI6 and Vauxhall Bridge which appear in many recent Bond films.
We'll meet at your hotel, or other agreed location in London.
During the tour we'll visit:
- King's Road
- Royal Avenue (the London address of James Bond)
- The old Chelsea Drugstore
- The quaint backstreets of Chelsea
- The old home of A. A. Milne, where the Winnie-the-Pooh books were written
- St Margaret's Church, where Charles Dickens was married
- Cheyne Walk
- Chelsea Embankment
- Writer's Block
- The medieval Chelsea Old Church
- MI6 and Vauxhall Bridge
At the end, we'll finish back at your hotel, or other agreed upon spot.
