The tour of Porvoo is specially for you who want to see more of Finland. Porvoo is the second oldest town in Finland. The ride from Helsinki to Porvoo takes approximately 50 minutes and goes through the country side of southern Finland.
Many Finnish artists have lived in Porvoo, among them the national poet Runeberg. Alexander I, tsar of Russia, came to Porvoo to give Finland authonomy in 1809.
The old town is known for it's many interior design and gift shops. The Art Hall is close by and there you can see both contemporary art and art from the 1950's and 1980's.
The drive from Helsinki to Porvoo is less than a hour. You will be introduced to the history of Porvoo and the Finnish nature during the trip. The tour in Porvoo will start with a visit to the Art Hall with contemporary art.
Then the journey will continue to the Porvooi Cathedral, dating back to the 1450s. After that a walk in the old town where you can explore design and gift shops, antique shops and maybe sit down for a while enjoying a coffee or an ice-cream.
