Searching for the Leaning Tower of Pisa throughout the Square of Miracles.

The Leaning Tower of Pisa is the best mistake ever made! 175 feets, 294 steps, pure marble. Since 1173 this old lady takes after her children: the wise Cathedral, an incredible jewel of architecture, a symbol of the power of the maritime republic of Pisa.
The Baptistery, the largest in the world, illuminated the road to all travelers coming by boats, who chose to enter the Pisan harbor.
The monumental cemetery, or Campo Santo, contains within itself the largest wall of frescoes of the Middle Ages (2000 square meters). Since 1276 it represents the city Pantheon.
Finally, the 13th-century hospital, today the seat of the Sinopie Museum, unique in its kind.

Curious?
Let's find it out!

Itinerary

Welcome to Pisa!
It's Alessandro, your local guide.

I'll meet you by the main gate through the old city walls of Pisa, in Manin Square. After an introduction we'll walk together to enter the biggest Baptistery of the world, that will show us its treasures, such as the famous pulpit by Nicola Pisano and the monumental baptismal font (XIII c. ). Due to its size and shape, the Baptistery of Pisa is a perfect sounding board and we'll hear a curious demonstration.

The Cathedral of Pisa will reveal us its sacred heart: built up by Busketo in 1063, it was the largest church of the world (after St. Peter of Rome). We'll see the golden ceiling (175 p. ), the chandelier of Galileo Galilei, the pulpit by Giovanni Pisano, the body of San Ranieri and other beautiful works of art.

The Campo Santo is my favorite monuments: 100 roman sarcophagi, 2000 sqmt of frescoes, 50 Gothic style windows. . . so peaceful!

Well. . . let's see who's leaning now! The Tower of Pisa is waiting for us!

A Recent Review of this tour

We had the pleasure to book a private tour with Alessandro during our last trip to Tuscany (Discovering Pisa and its treasures - in English). Absolutely fantastic. Alessandro shared with us his great knowledge and passion for the city of Pisa and unveiled some of Pisa hidden secrets. Enlightening! It is really worth it!
