Legends, alchemical symbols, scary stories and a lot of irony beyond the Tower

Have you ever heard about the Devil's nails? Have you seen the the snakes on the Tower of Pisa?
Do you know what this inscription means? +ɱVɦVʌV +ɱVɦVʌV +ɱVɦVʌV

Find it out with the help of the author of the book "Pisa Red Blood", your local guide (me!)

The city of Pisa is full of old stories, legends and hidden secrets. The Square of Miracle was projected to be a cosmic clock and the Tower reveals many symbols that could be carved by alchemists. Did you know that the first day of the year in Pisa is on the 25th of March? Guess why!

The old town hosts hidden corners, visited just by locals, with beautiful churches full of mysteries and haunted houses. This is probably the reason why Mary Shelley spent several days in our city.

Pisa is also a city of scientists, such as Leonardo Fibonacci, Galileo Galilei, Antonio Pacinotti (inventor of the dynamo), Enrico Fermi (atomic discoveries) and Guglielmo Marconi (Radio frequencies). This tour will let you know them better.

Itinerary

The guided tour starts in the Square of Miracles, discovering the symbology of all the monuments, getting into the old Campo Santo, the Holy Field, through roman sarcophagi and medieval frescoes. There we will stop by the famous fresco of 'Hell' by Buffalmacco, the 'Cosmography' by Piero di Puccio (how the XIV century people believed the world was) and the Galileo chandelier.
Then the Cathedral of Pisa, to see its treasure and the golden ceiling (176 pounds of gold).
Looking for the Devil's nails and the Tower's Snakes and Bears, we will get in front of the golden window: what is that?
Then ghosts, murderous murders and a lot of fun!
Will you be able to look for the turtle on the Palace of the Knights? Will you solve the St. Frediano enigma? I'll help you!
We will see where Galileo lived, and where Lord Byron looked for an old ghost, staying awake for 35 days!
After so many misteries, I think we'll deserve a glass of red 'blood' wine! Cin Cin!
This tour will let you see my city through different eyes!

A Recent Review of this tour

Our family of 5 had the most wonderful time with Alessandro in Pisa. Our 3 kids (aged 5, 9 and 12) were involved from the first second and even the youngest stayed focused for more than 3 hours. Alessandro's way of telling history through questions, solving enigmas and funny stories kept us all amused. If only history was taught like this at school!!! Having Alessandro as our guide to Pisa kikstarted our journey to Italy which we will never forget!!! Can't recommend highly enough! Thank you!!!
