The birthplace of New England's Founders
Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire all bear claim to be the birthplace of the Pilgrim Fathers who first set sail to Leyden in Holland then from Boston, Lincolnshire, finally in The Mayflower from Plymouth. We spend the day at the villages their leaders were born in and at places associated with them,
Depending on the starting point we will try to get in as many of the places connected with the Pilgrim Fathers as possible. Certainly Austerfield, Bawtry and Scrooby will be on the itinerary as well as Gainsborough with a visit to the Old Hall.
Please note that many of the churches eg Austerfield are usually locked for reasons of security. Whilst every endeavour will be made to arrange entrance it may not be possible to visit the interiors of them all.
