Exploring the Dark and White Peak

The Peak District is the second most visited National Park in the world and yet most visitors only see a tiny segment of what it has to offer. Join a qualified Mountain Leader to explore some of the highlights of this rugged, wild area on foot.
We offer a selection of walks in the area including the classic hills of Kinder Scout and Bleaklow, the Mam Tor Great Ridge and The Roaches and Lud's Church. Walks can be interspersed with other activities and visits to some of the many picturesque and historical villages in the area.
I have been exploring and working in the Peak District for 15 years and know the area like the back of my hand so please don't hesitate to contact me and we can arrange an individually tailored itinerary that matches your interests, level of fitness and timescale.

The itinerary will be dependent on which of the activities that you wish to overtake. We will generally start our walks early and then have some time in the afternoon for further exploration.

Some aspects of the tour may be affected by the weather, however we will usually endeavor to head out whatever the weather. This is an aspect that we can discuss during the booking process.

Meeting Location + Tour Duration

Meeting location: I will meet you at your Peak District accommodation unless we arrange an alternative rendezvous point.

End location: I will end the tour at the pick up point.

Duration: 8 hours

Between 7 and 8 hours depending on weather conditions, party fitness and extra activities required.

What’s Included

On the walking and non-walking tours I will provide a hot drink at the meeting point, something to eat en route and transportation to the start and end points. I will also e-mail a selection of photos from the day to the customer.

Estimated Local Cash Needed

30 GBP - This would be an estimate based on a walking tour followed by a meal with drinks in a pub or cafe. If you wish to take a non-walking tour of the area, I can make further suggestions and amend this amount to include any "pay for" activities e.g. visitng caverns etc

What’s Extra

On non-walking tours any entrance fees will need to be paid. Meals in pubs and cafes will also need to be paid for.

I am not a licensed guide and so cannot guide you inside museums, however I can accompany you and have a good knowledge of the major museums in the area.

A Recent Review of this tour

This was an amazing tour and one of our favorite parts of our UK trip. Ian did a great job of planning a great day and tailoring the tour to our wishes. He was very knowledgeable and gave us an amazing full day experience. It was clear to us that he is smart and able to gauge the capabilities of the folks he guides. In our case, we were able to do a full 19 mile hike with much of it being in the rain. I wouldn't have traded a second of it for the world. Thank you Ian!
