Everything in a day: nature, art, archaeology, architecture, flavors, etc.
A tour to discover and enjoy the coast on the North of Otranto (with the legendary Cave of Poetry next to the archeological site of the ancient fortified city of Roca Vecchia, the dramatic view of the faraglioni stacks of Torre S. Andrea, the natural landscapes of Alimini lakes) and on the South (the liberty style architecture of Santa Cesarea Terme, the breathtaking views of the rugged coastline, the lighthouse of Palascia cape, the satured colours of the exausted bauxite mine), the Unesco site of Otranto (with its picturesque and lively historic city center and its castle, the ancient walls and the Romanesque cathedral with the chapel of the 800 martyrs and the astonishing mosaic representing the tree of life and several hidden meanings coming from different cultures and centuries), the hidden secrets of dolmens and menhirs (those mysterious prehistoric megalithic monuments with an extremely high density in this area: the southeasternmost of Italy and localted along the 40th parallel of latitude).
Usually the tour begins with a drive along the Adriatic coast on the North of Otranto, after it goes a few kilometres inland to discover the hidden secrets of dolmens and menhirs, it continues with the coast on the South of Otranto (Castro, Santa Cesarea Terme, the exausted bauxite mine, Palascia's lighthouse: the southeasternmost cape of Italy) and Otranto (listed by Unesco as Heritage for a Culture of Peace).
During the tour we can visit a cheesefarm for a cheese tasting and olive oil tasting. For lunch it's possible to choose among a focaccia at a bakery or to enjoy a fish menu at a restaurant overlooking the seaside or a wine pairing menu at a winery's restaurant where wines are free of charge.
It's also possible to modify the itinerary with a boat trip to admire the marine caves between Castro and Santa Cesarea and for a swim in a bay or in a marine cave with the sulphureus water coming out from the themal spring; a visit to Lecce, Gallipoli, Santa Maria di Leuca, Corigliano d'Otranto, Galatina, etc.

I had the pleasure of spending 3 full days with Alessandro this past summer on my trip to Puglia. He was very friendly knowledgeable and professional during our day trips from Lecce. I wish I would have used him in Matera and when I went to Alberobello. I highly recommend him and you will not be disappointed if you book him to be your guide.
