Viking Ships, Cultural Heritage Museum - and a walk in a beautiful natural landscape park
This tour is indeed a nice combination of «culture and nature» - and a good choice if you want to unite history with a walk in a charming landscape.
At Bygdøy, a peninsula just outside the city centre, you find many famous museums. Among them are the Viking Ship House showing the original viking ships dating back more than 1000 years. Indeed impressive and precious treasures of the past! Next to this museum is the Museum of Cultural Heritage, an open air museum with a great collection of old Norwegian buildings. Among the gems are the old stave church, a wooden church from medieval times, constructed according to traditional construction principles based on hundreds of years of experience.
But Bygdøy has more to offer. If you fancy a walk in a beautiful landscape park, this is the opportunity! Bygdøy is famous for its charming beaches framed by old pine trees and its old linden tree forests. The landscape of Bygdøy is protected by law as a nature reserve. I would like to invite you for a walk!

Ingebjorg was so knowledgable and accommodating, we thoroughly enjoyed our tour. With seemingly inexhaustible energy, we saw many sights around Oslo with a lot of interesting facts added between stops. We had our little dog with us, and Ingebjorg went out of her way to plan a little hiking around the fjord. We highly recommend her for your tour!
