Orang Utan Island + Tour in George Town, UNESCO World Heritage Site. CAR included.
The Orang Utans are the three (Borneon, Sumatran & Tapanuli) exclusively Asian species of extant great apes. Native to Indonesia and Malaysia, Orang Utans are found only in the rain forests of Borneo and Sumatra.
The Bornean Orang Utans population declined by 50% in the past 60 years. The Sumatran Orang Utans populations declined by 80% in 75 years. Their habitat has decreased rapidly due to logging and forest fires, fragmentation by roads as well as the conversion of vast areas of tropical forest to palm oil plantations in response to international demand.
The trip involves crossing of the NEW Penang Bridge (24km) to Bukit Merah's Orang Utan Foundation and the OLD Penang Bridge (13. 5km) on the way back to Penang Island.

Our tour in Penang was fabulous. Lawrence was waiting for us at the prearranged time and place on the dockside. Lawrence was an excellent guide, he was very knowledgeable about Penang and the rest of the Malay Peninsula. We drove out of The city and off first to visit the Orangutans, the facility is well run and is not a zoo the animals are rehabilitated and released. We then drove back to Penang for lunch, took the Train to the top of the hill, where the views were spectacular. Thank You Lawrence !
