Honfleur, an exquisite medieval harbour became a meeting point for artists in the middle of the 19th century thanks to its unique architecture and typical site. Boudin, the first painter who painted the beaches and the locals attracted many other painters who rejected academic art.
Etretat, 30 miles north has fascinated visitors for a long time but It is Monet who made the first paintings of the unique cliffs eroded in an extaordinary way. Its most famous work is exibited in the Orsay museum in Paris.
Fecamp à lovely fishing port
The tour can start in Honfleur as well as le Havre where we'll drive to Fecamp , a charming fishing he port as well as a resort. Stop there and we'll proceed to Etretat famous for its amazing cliffs eroded by the sea for millions years which inspired many artists such as Monet , but also writes and other artists. Stop there for walking and a quick lunch. We'll proceed to Honfleur a little 16th century fishing harbour which was to become a great artistic center in the middle of the 19th century. Walking tour around the dock to enjoy the old half timbered houses and the medieval streets. Visit of the church Sainte Catherine, the only one in France built out of wood. And walking throuht the most typical streets with timbered houses Then we'll proceed to the outstanding Normandy bridge, spanning the Seine river, inaugurare in 1995
