an enjoyable walk in a secluded part of town
In Venice there is much more to see and grasp than only a few 'landmarks' always crowded by large group tours.
Few areas are still populated by local people with no souvenir shops around and where local life still rule and the easternmost part of Castello is one of these.
This walking tour will bring you through a large area barely touched by the urban restructuring of 19th and 20th centuries where the ancient layout of the city is still visible.
But the tour also includes a couple of important remarkable places, the very ornate gate of the arsenal and the imposing Franciscan Church and its old cloisters.
And to provide you with a real 'taste' of local life we'll visit and old yard where boats are maintained and brought back to the water. The owner will introduce you to some of the main features about traditional Venetian boats.
This tour will include the following features:
- Franciscan church of san Francesco della Vigna with cloisters
- the Arsenal's gate and its ramparts.
- the Island of San Pietro, the 'last' one in Venice
- visit of a local boat yard
- extensive walk in a secluded area of town
NOTICE: to enter the boat yard a fee of 25, 00 euros is required and the visit there relies on the owner's availability.
The visit on the boat yard can be done from Mondays to Fridays.
On weekends we can extend our walk.
