Fairytale castle visit

We embark on a journey to the Fairytale Neuschwanstein Castle on this all-day trip from Frankfurt via a fun stop at the gorgeous historic Rothenburg ob der Tauber - the Christmas Capital of Germany.

This fairytale-like castle, was commissioned by Ludwig II of Bavaria as a summer retreat, and so to pay homage to the popular German composer Richard Wagner, who was a close friend of Ludwig. The castle has appeared in several films and is said to have served as inspiration for Disney's Sleeping Beauty Castle, making it an incredibly popular and enduring attraction.

IMPORTANT:

Bavarian castles are best planned from Munich, but due to overwhelming demand and in many cases, when Frankfurt is more practical for your particular trip plan I have been offering an option from Frankfurt. It's still great but please note it's a long drive to get to the castle.

Itinerary

We leave Frankfurt in the morning on our journey to the Bavarian Alps.
- Frankfurt - Rothenburg ob der Tauber (approx. 2 hour drive)
We will make a stop at beautiful Rothenburg - the most preserved medieal town in Germany for a quick visit of the Old Town.
- Rothenburg ob der Tauber - Schwangau/Neuschwanstein Castle (approx. 2 1/2 hour drive)

Schwangau
- We tour the castle in the afternoon.
