At least four wineries & a light lunch - in your choice of a vintage or modern air conditioned SUV
Visit the finest wineries the area has to offer. Hawke's Bay is New Zealand's oldest wine region with beginnings in 1851 pioneering innovation and leadership. By the early 1920's, Mission Estate, Te Mata Estate, Vidal Estate, McDonalds Winery (now Church Road Winery) and Glenvale Winery (now Esk Valley Winery) were all established in the region. The soils and climate that so excited the early wine-making efforts of those pioneers continues to provide the inspiration for the current generation of Hawke's Bay winemakers.
It is now New Zealand's second largest wine region and the largest premium red wine producing region in the country. The earliest vineyards in Hawke's Bay were established on the coast and in areas close to the towns of Napier, Havelock North and Hastings.
The wineries visited will vary according to the season. This is a leisurely tour to be taken at your own pace, but you can typically expect to visit at least four wineries.
Join me for a day to remember; a day when time is yours to command as this tour is totally customizable to your preferences. The focus of the day is on wine tasting; we will visit a minimum of four wineries (but probably more - that will depend on how much you like to savor the moment!). Wineries visited will include the oldest winery in New Zealand - the Mission Estate.
Availability of other wineries in the region (there are more than 70) is variable according to the season, so l will recommend those likely to provide you with the most enjoyable experience on the day and I do encourage you to let me know if you are keen to visit a particular winery - I will do my best for you.
Hawkes Bay wineries are scattered over a fairly large area including suburban Napier and Hastings, Havelock North and the Gimblett Gravels area further afield. This means we will be cruising around the region, allowing ample opportunities for photos and sightseeing. Te Mata Peak, Tuki Tuki Valley and more are all within easy reach.

If you want to purchase wine during the tour, you can expect to pay an average of between $15 and $50 per bottle, which is not included in the estimated figure. The majority of wineries in Hawkes Bay accept Visa and Mastercard credit cards, so it is unnecessary to carry large amounts of cash.
