A trip up the Romantic Road to see the walled town of Rothenburg with a private guide
This is the classic trip up the Romantic Road to the fantastic walled city of Rothenburg. Once one of the 10 most important cities in the holy Roman Empire, Rothenburg has been almost frozen in a time capsule since the mid 17th century.
Almost every street and alley in Rothenburg is like a postcard come to life. The half-timbered houses on cobblestone streets are impeccably preserved. The city wall still extends completely around the town. Most of it can be walked (see photos), truly evoking the feeling of what it must have been like to live in the middle ages.
Along the Romantic Road up to Rothenburg we can have an (optional) short visit at a wonderful medieval castle (Harburg) and we have a short stop at another great walled city, Dinkelsbühl.
Base price may be more for larger groups (larger vehicle).
08:30 am pickup
ca. 18:30 return to hotel.
From Munich we head out on the German Autobahn until we reach Augsburg, where we turn off onto the Romantic Road.
On the way to Rothenburg there is an optional short stop at the pristine Harburg Castle, which has never been conquered or destroyed, and we will visit the quaint walled town of Dinkelsbühel with its fantastic medieval architecture. Please see the photos for more information.

Kevin was a treat as a guide. Whether the subject was about current events or history about Germany he knew it all! It was a pleasure to see the sights with him and he took advantage of time available to see other notable places. He took into account what we'd like to see and not see and organized the days very well. We would definitely recommend Kevin.
