Mount Meru is located within Arusha National Park. It is a non-active volcanic mountain composed of both lava flows and pyroclastic materials and is the second highest mountain in Tanzania with less snow.

During the climbing, a group of armed rangers accompany climbers as they pass through the Arusha National Park.
