A hike up a real mountain, with incredible views of Lake Como
Explore Mt. San Primo, at 1680 m/5500 ft the tallest mountain in the so-called 'Triangle', the area between Lake Como's two lower branches. On a clear day, the view from the top is absolutely breathtaking!
While the climb has no technical difficulty, it is a fairly long and steep hike, which requires an adequate level of fitness and appropriate footwear (hiking boots or shoes).
We will drive North from Milan towards Lake Como, as far as Piano Rancio (elevation 965 m/3, 100 ft), a tiny resort in the forest above Bellagio (the drive takes approx. 1. 5 hours). From the trailhead, we will hike first through a beech forest, then through open pasture, all the way up to the summit of Mt. San Primo, at 1, 680 m/5, 500 ft. We will descend following an open ridge, with breathtaking views of the whole Lake Como at our feet. We will then drive back to Milan, arriving there in the late afternoon.
