A tour around and about the three Medici Palaces, stages of a 3-century-long Dynasty escalation.
There are three palaces in Florence that have witnessed the private lives and escalation to power of the Medici family: Signoria, Pitti and Medici-Riccardi.
One of the most powerful European families, the Medici, ruled Florence for more than three centuries. The wealthier the Medici became, the richer their art collections grew. Such did their need of self celebration through the use of art. The three Medici Palaces underwent great artistic renovations.
Actually it's due to a Medici commission that Vasari and the best Mannerist artists of the time decorated the most important rooms and halls in the Signoria Palace.
This three-hour tour focuses on this Palace. We will look at the incredible frescoes decorating its Hall of the 500 (Salone dei Cinquecento), the Lily Room, the Geographical Maps rooms, and more.
We will then walk to the Pitti and Medici-Riccardi Palaces to admire, from the outside, their unique lavish Renaissance architectures.
Art, politics, private life and power all at once.
