Nature, crafts and the Diamond Rock

A tour around the western side of the island combining views and nature: start with a 2h kayak excursion to the mangrove to learn more about this unique ecosystem paddling among crabs, birds and mangrove trees. The kayak rental is situated in the Pottery Village, an old pottery where nowadays you can also find many local artisans and restaurants. After the kayak tour it's possible to eat lunch here and visit the different shops.

We then hop to the car to drive through les Trois-Ilets and take the winding forest road to les Anses d'Arlet fishing village. A short stop follows for pictures, before continuing to drive up the Morne Larcher mountain for a spectacular view of the Diamond Rock. We also shortly stop at the Cap 110° memorial site and at the center of the town of le Diamant.

Learn about Martinique's history, nature and culture and take some beautiful pictures

Our first stop is the Pottery Village where we leave for an approx. 2 h kayak tour, that takes us to discover the mangrove forest and paddle up a little river.

We then discover the Pottery Village where it's also possible to have lunch at a snack or restaurant. Here you can find many hand-made objects by local artisans, perfumes, souvenirs and decorative objects.

The tour then takes you through Trois-Ilets, stopping shortly to see the old church, and then through a winding forest road to Anses D'Arlet. This is a small village with old wooden houses and a beautiful church. A small stop for some pictures. After this follows a drive up to Morne Larcher mountain for a view on the spectacular Diamond Rock. Then on the way back we finish with a visit to the Cap 110° memorial site, and if time allows, visit shortly the town of le Diamant.

The Pottery Village was really cute and there is no way we would have found it without our local tour guide!!! Kayaking was fun and we had a great day!
