This is a great three day tour around the remarkable Snaefellsnes Peninsula and the less traavelled southern side of the Westfjords north of Snaefellsnes. On our first day we visit all the highlights, in Snæfellsnes including the tranquil fishing village of Arnarstapi, the historical fishing station of Djúpalónsandur, the magnificent rocks of Lóndrangar, viewing the powerful icecapped volcano of Snaefellsjokull, and drive through the thriving fishing towns of Grundarfjordur and Olafsvik. The day ends in at a comfortable 3 bedroom cottage on the outskirts of Stykkisholmur. On the second day we take the ferry across the fjord Breiðafjordur, among numerous islands, teaming with birdlife and spend the day exploring the magnificent birdcliffs at Látrabjarg and the Red sand beach. We return to our cottage in the evening. On the third day we return to Reykjavik by driving through the histoircal area of Borgarfjord where we visit the worlds largest geothermal hotspring and the lava-waterfalls Hraunfossar.
Pickup at 08. 00am at your hotel in the Reykjavik area. The first leg takes us to the idyllic fishing-village of Arnarstapi. Next we visit the lavacave Vatnshellir. The cave is an 8000 year old lava tube created by volcanic eruption from a nearby crater. We then drive trough the thriving fishing villages of Grundarfjordur and Olafsvik with selected sights and magnificent photographic opportunities. Our day ends in the historical town of Stykkisholmur. The second day starts with taking the carferry across Breidafjord and we wisit Látrabjarg, the largest birdcliff in the world. We return to Stykkisholmur in the evening. Our third day we head back to Reykjavik via Borgarfjordur where we stop by Deildartunguhver, the worlds largest hotspring and Hraunfossar The lava waterfalls, and have a late lunch at a nice cafe in the greenhouse village of Kleppjárnsreykir.
