Land of the 'Lunaticks'

Our full day tour begins in Birmingham with a visit to Soho House, home of Mathew Boulton and meeting place of the Lunar Society whose many members included Josiah Wedgewood, James Watt and Joseph Priestley.

From here we follow in the footsteps of various members of the Lunar Society , as closely as possible along the old road to Lichfield where we visit the home of Erasmus Darwin, which is situated within the Cathedral close.

Lichfield is also where we can visit the birthplace of Dr Samuel Johnson - author of the first dictionary.

Meeting Location + Tour Duration

Meeting location: In the reception area of your hotel in Birmingham.
I will have a name board, which will display your surname

End location: Your hotel in Birmingham or Lichfield area.

Duration: 8 hours 30 min.


We will be travelling in a comfortable people carrier with leather seats and air conditioning.
There will be some easy walking involved.

What’s Included

all transport and guiding fees but excluding entrance fees or refreshments.

40 british pounds - This will cover cost of entrance to museums including Millenium Point in Birmingham, which houses the original, working steam engine that was improved by James Watt
