High city, low city with a private guide
Tokyo is best understood by starting in the place it all began… Nihonbashi. And that is what we do. Here, in the heart of the city, we discover the role it played.
After meeting in arrival lobby of Narita International Airport (Please let me know your arrival terminal number). Our first transfer is to Nihonbashi
A quick transfer by taxi will take us to Tsukiji home to Tsukiji Honganji and the Tokyo Wholesale market.
Depending on the day of your tour, we will either go to Tsukiji (when open) or to the Edo-jo Castle, today's Imperial Palace. If time permits, we will visit both!
From here, we visit the historic Hama Rikyu Inshi Teien garden. This garden was built in 1640 by the brother of the fourth Tokugawa shogun and is a fine 17th Century stroll garden. Next, we go to Asakusa, our last stop before heading back to Narita. Asakusa was the most active area for entertainment from 1840 till the Pacific War and is the attic of old Tokyo today!

Our tour was fun and informative. We learned about Japanese culture, morés and history. Patrick was very flexible so we got as much in as possible considering our time constraints and the weather. There was a little of everything included ...a train ride, a cab ride, a pagoda, a tea house, a local market, a large department store...and more!
