The Florence of the South of Italy
Lecce is a historic city in southern Italy, as well as one of the most important cities of Puglia.
Because of the rich Baroque architectural monuments found in the city, Lecce is commonly nicknamed "The Florence of the South". The city also has a long traditional affinity with Greek culture.
The visit starts from Porta Napoli and follows to Marrese Palace, the Cathedral Square, St. Irene's Church. After a visit at a laboratory of papier-machè, we will reach Sant'Oronzo's Square, which houses one of the few vestiges of the ancient Lupiae. The tour ends with the masterpiece symbol of the city: the church of Santa Croce.
Meeting Location + Tour Duration
Meeting location: The best way to start the tour is to meet us in front of "Porta Napoli/Obelisco". But if you need, I can pick up you also to the train station, to your hotel or to the bus check point area or wherever you prefer.
End location: The best area to stop the tour is Piazza Sant'Oronzo, where you can have free time in the heart of Lecce and spend your time buying souvenirs or tasting local food.
Duration: 2 hours
It depends on the time you have to visit the city. If you have more time, please, ask me for a full-day tour.
