Visit the lush landscape of Cider with Rosie
Walk in the footsteps of the great Gloucestershire writer through his beloved Slad Valley - reading out extracts from his poems and prose in situ. We'll visit the newly-opened Laurie Lee Wood, and key locations featured in his classic memoir 'Cider with Rosie'. After paying our respects at his grave, a drink in his local, The Woolpack, (be it Rosie cider or a cup of coffee) will slake your thirst. Led by local writer and keen walker Kevan Manwaring (as featured on BBC TV's 'The Secret Life of Books, Cider with Rosie). 5-7 miles. Moderate. Steep in parts.
Feedback from a participant:
'Thank you so much for the delicious, exquisite, evocative experience that was the Laurie Lee Cider with Rosie walk. It was fittingly my first experience of a literary walk and I look forward to many more. The walk added so much to both the landscape and the book. I also really enjoyed my lunch at beautiful Hawkwood College!'
