Exploring the best of the Lake District, England's favourite National Park

The Lake District is the most beautiful part of England, and also one of the most popular. Join a qualified Mountain Leader to get off the beaten track and explore some of the lesser known and less touristy spots. We offer walks up some of the most famous peaks in Lakeland including Scafell Pike (England's highest mountain), Helvellyn and Blencathra, but we can tailor an itinerary to suit your needs and interests.
So whether you want to climb the highest hill, admire the view described as England's best in Wasdale or follow in Beatrix Potter or Wordsworth's footsteps, we have the perfect tour for you.

The itinerary will be dependent on which of the activities that you wish to overtake. We will generally start our walks early and then have some time in the afternoon for further exploration.

Some aspects of the tour may be affected by the weather, however we will usually endeavor to head out whatever the weather. This is an aspect that we can discuss during the booking process.

Meeting Location + Tour Duration

Meeting location: We will meet at a pre-specified location such as your accommodation, a car park or a pub. This can be discussed during the booking process.

End location: We will end the tour at the meeting location point.

Duration: 8 hours

Duration will vary depending on routes chosen, fitness and weather conditions, but the tours represent a full day of activity.

What’s Included

On the walking and non-walking tours I will provide a hot drink at the meeting point, something to eat en route and transportation to the start and end points. I will also e-mail a selection of photos from the day to the customer.

Estimated Local Cash Needed

30 GBP - This would be the amount of money that would usually be required for a two course meal with a drink in one of the Lake District's characterful pubs, plus the odd souvenir. Additional charges might be levied for things like entry to Hilltop or other National Trust sites if required.

What’s Extra

On non-walking tours any entrance fees will need to be paid. Meals in pubs and cafes will also need to be paid for.

I am not a licensed guide and so cannot guide you inside museums, however I can accompany you and have a good knowledge of the major museums in the area.

A Recent Review of this tour

I motor-toured the Lake District with Ian H. on September 13, 2017. Ian got a lot of wonderful places into the tour and had researched my special interest (Wordsworth's Excursion). He was very informative about the landscape and culture of the Lake District, which he obviously loves. I learned a lot from Ian and enjoyed my time with him.
