The Labyrinth of Homer and Heraklion Bits and Bites with a Private Guide
You start your day visiting the historic Monuments of Heraklion old town. You will explore Venetian and Ottoman Monuments, such as the fountain of Morosini, The Basilica of St. Marc, The Venetian Loggia, St. Titos church, the Venetian Port with the Fortress of "Koule"and the Venetian 'Neoria".
On your way you will try local pastries and delicacies, like the famous "bougatsa" pastry, "loukoumades" donuts with honey, Greek coffee, local olive oil, wine, cheese, honey and other local products. A walk inside the town's open-air market will make your senses awaken with its different and various smells, colors and sounds.
After Heraklion, you will visit the most important archaeological site on Crete and the second most visited archaeological site of the country, the Minoan palace of Knossos, the mythical Labyrinth of Homer. You will be visiting an amazing area of 22. 000sq meters. A prehistoric "city", the place where the oldest European civilization started and flourished some 5000 years ago.

Knossos is just 5km to the south of Heraklion, so we can easily get there by the local bus or by taxi. From Knossos to Heraklion town we can simply take the local bus which runs every 10' min and takes about 15'- 20' min to reach the town's center. Alternatively taxis are also available from Knossos to Heraklion.
