Flowers, wooden shoes, cheese and windmills - a day outside the city
I will pick you up from your hotel for a drive to the Keukenhof Gardens Park to see some flowers! This is one of the world's largest flower gardens, opened only from mid March to mid May. Every year, more than 7 million flower bulbs are planted in this park. This is where we make a walk, usually about 1, 5hrs but if you want to stay longer, then that's no problem.
In the afternoon we will visit the beautiful countryside north of Amsterdam, with its polders below sealevel, characteristic small villages, green wooden houses, cows and windmills. Here we will visit a windmill from 1634, we will make a walk through a small authentic village and you will see a former lake, drained by windmills more than 400 years ago!
At the end of the excursion I will drive you back to your hotel, or I can drop you in the city centre of Amsterdam if you prefer.

I do guide in museums where that is allowed, such as the Vincent van Gogh, Rembrandthouse, Rijksmuseum, Frans Hals museum, Mauritshouse. I have a lot of knowledge about the Dutch history, but please do note that I am not an art historian.

Vincent was very attentive and patient (he was working with 6 senior citizens and a wheelchair). When he saw that that we were slowing down, he suggested an alternative to the original tour and it was perfect. It was our pleasure to treat him to lunch and learn about his family. We look to return to Amsterdam in a year or so and hope that he will be available for one or more of his other special tours. Thank you Vincent for a most pleasing day. (Mrs). M. J.
