It's like a fairyland. Really!
This almost unknown gorge which cannot help but remind you of a fairyland, its dense vegetation and small waterfalls will surely amaze you.
The beautiful scenery, one of the greenest in Crete, with trees over 30 meters, plane trees and oaks, trunks covered with ivies and rich ferns along the stream, will reward you and will show you a different picture of the local nature.
Our hike is about 6 km, with shady stops to rest and just enjoy the scenery. It's an ideal shady option for the hot summer days.
From Chania we will drive through small villages until Karanou, 24 km southwest from Chania, where we will enter the gorge. Our almost horse-shoe shaped hike will take us back to Karanou, at a 15 minute walk from our car.
A stop for lunch in Karanou vilage after the hike and before heading back to Chania is always a good idea. After all, the hike will probably build up your appetite!
