In this day trip, we will visit an ancient city, Kamakura. It is only one hour train ride from central Tokyo.
Kamakura, one of the old political centers of Japan, flourished in the 12th century as the first Samurai government in this nation. People are still fascinated with the atmosphere and its historical remains such as Hase Kannon Temple, the Great Buddha, Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, etc. At Hokokuji Temple you will have a cup of a thick powdered green tea called "Maccha" while looking at the beautiful bamboo garden.
Zen Buddhism was introduced to Japan during Kamakura Era(1185- 1333)and became very popular. You will be able to feel the spirit of this traditional culture in Kamakura.
