Discover Hong Kong's beautiful countryside on this private car tour
Travelling to the New Territories (my home), we will drive to some of the places most visitors do not get to see in Hong Kong. This can include:
The Sai Kung Peninsular - taking a short walk to High Island Reservoir, we will pass stunning scenery, abandoned villages and unique volcanic rock formations.
10, 000 Buddha's Monastery - this religious monument is not officially recognised by the tourist board, and can often be missed when trying to find it! There are in fact 16, 000 Buddhas on this steep hillside, it is well worth the trek to see them all.
Tsang Tai Uk - one of the remaining Chinese walled villages which is still inhabited by members of the Tsang family.
Monkey Mountain - see native Macaque monkeys. . . but never feed them!
Travel to the top of Jat's incline offers a panoramic view of the Hong Kong Island, the Victoria Harbour, Lei Yue Mun and the former Hong Kong International Airport, as well as part of the Kowloon Peninsula.
Kadoorie Farm - a hidden nature oasis away from the city
Sample Itinerary (we can manipulate the tour to suit your needs):
The itinerary is completely flexible, but designed to reach the areas by car that are not so easily accessible by public transport. These include:
- Sai Kung for the National Park or the seafood promenade.
- Tai Po for the local meat, fish and goods markets and Kadoorie Farm.
- Abandoned villages and fortified walled communities in Sha Tin.
- The 10, 000 Buddhas Monastery in Shatin.
- Monkey mountain - see the native (and very tame) Macaques monkeys. They must not be fed however.
- Jat's Incline, an amazing view back to Hong Kong from East Kowloon, showing Victoria Harbour, the old Kai Tak Airport and Kowloon.

We had two wonderful days with Amy. She is an excellent guide and is very knowledgeable about Hong Kong, the people, history and customs. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with her. This was our second day and was a great follow on to the first day. While the weather didn't fully cooperate, it was still an excellent day of seeing the New Territories and sampling the local cuisine! We highly recommend Amy!
