You will learn a lot about Hawaiian history, culture, the language, trees, fruits, flowers, birds, animals, and more. There will be many great photo ops. It will be a very educational, informative, interesting, fun, and memorable tour that you will remember & cherish the rest of your life.
In Hilo the highlights are Banyan Drive, the Kamehameha Statue, & Rainbow Falls. From Hilo we head out to the breathtakingly beautiful district of Puna stopping first at the coffee farm I live on and manage. There you will experience the coffee trees loaded with coffee cherries June through October, learn the coffee making process, and experience several varieties of palms including Royals, Fishtail, & Sealing wax, several varieties of bamboo including Black & Buddha varieties, Strawberry & Regular Guavas, bananas, and Ti plants. From there we go through historic Pahoa Town stopping to pickup lunch for a picnic down on the amazingly scenic, coastal Red Road in the tropical rainforest. Next we visit Lava Tree state park created by lava coming from fissures and see several varieties of fruits & flowers. Along the Red Road we will pass through tree tunnels and make several very interesting & scenic stops including the warm springs. Given time the Maunaloa Macadamia nut farm on the way back to Hilo is an option.
