A full immersion in the Roman history
Pompeii and Herculaneum are the two most important archaeological sites in the world.
The two archaeological areas are so different although they are so close to each other. They are different, first of all, because the two ancient cities were different: Pompeii was bigger and was basically a trading city; Herculaneum was smaller and was essentially a residential town for rich. They are different, moreover, because both cities were destroyed by the same eruption of the volcano Mt. Vesuvius in AD 79, but the effects of the eruption were not the same and made them different also in the state of preservation.
Visiting both let you have a complete idea about the life in a Roman city 2000 years ago, investigating much better both public and private aspects of the Roman world.
*If you are on a cruise ship, please inquire me for a customized tour with private transportation.
We meet at one of the entrances of Pompeii or Herculaneum or where previously agreed.
In Pompeii, we focus on the public life of the ancient Romans, because the public buildings are more numerous and better preserved than in Herculaneum. We go to see the theatres, the baths, the "red light district", the city centre and the famous "petrified bodies".
In Herculaneum, we can have a better and more intimate look at the private life of the ancient Romans. We see the skeletons of the victims and go to visit different private houses and shops.
We spend approximately 2 hours per each archaeological site plus time for lunch if you want to have it between the two visits.

Francesco was very knowledgeable and organized. He contacted us ahead of time and gave us detailed information on how to get there and where to meet him. That made things much easier! Francesco's passion for this region and the history is contagious! We had an amazing tour, but more than that, we felt that this experience impacted us personally. We have recommended Francesco to our friends, and will definitely go on another tour with him next time we are in Italy.
