Nearby is Doune Castle which was built in the 1300s by the son of a Scottish king. You might know it best as Castle Leoch in Outlander or from the film Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
Best of all, this wonderful place where I live is within driving distance of Glasgow, Edinburgh, Stirling, Dundee Greenock and Oban.
I have a background in journalism and archaeology and am currently Site Director of an archaeological field survey on the island of Tiree on the West coast of Scotland. I am interested in Celtic and Viking archaeology and particularly the peoples of the Scottish archipelago.
I am also fascinated by the history and culture of the whole of Scotland and have even been known to venture occasionally into the 21st century. I particularly enjoy conducting walking tours of my two favourite cities, fun and edgy Glasgow and historic Edinburgh.
