Shore excursion : Old Quebec, Montmorency Falls, Island of Orleans, St. Anne Basilica and more !
It can be your first time in Quebec City or not, if you would like a great overview of the city and its surroundings, this full day private tour is for you. We can mix driving and walking, or not, this is up to you.
This is a very versatile tour because I'll be your private guide. Would like to focus on religious and military history ? Or women history, architecture, tastings ? I'll be able to tailor this tour depending on what you tell me and what I learn about you.
If you have very specific interests, please tell me that early. That way I can do some research. To give you ideas : I guided an author writing a book about Benedict Arnold ; once a couple wanted to see interesting cemeteries. Or more often : people have ancestors and would like to see the old house of the family, or a grave or a plaque about them.
If you're more than 4 people, if you would like a bigger car or a longer or shorter tour, please contact me and I'll send you a customized tour ready to book. Up to 23 with a customized tour.
Itinerary is every time adapted to your needs, wishes and interests.
Most of the time travellers would like to discover Old Quebec, the Island of Orleans, the Montmorency waterfalls and St. Anne Basilica.
But keep in mind I can guide you in less touristic areas :
- Old Suburbs of Quebec,
- Lévis (Old Lévis, Old Lauzon, Charny, St Romuald. . . ),
- Portneuf area,
- Charlevoix (Baie-St-Paul).
Basically : I guide travellers where they would like to go. If you've no idea, I'll probably start with the highlights. In both scenarios, on the way, I'll try to know you better, you and your fellow travellers. And then I'll adapt the itinerary depending on what I learnt about yourself (family roots, interests, profession, where you come from, previous travels. . . ). That way I can make bonds between your personal history and the local history.
Meeting Location + Tour Duration
Meeting location: I can pick you up in Lévis or Québec-City at your B&B, hotel or cruise ship.
End location: I can drop you off where I picked you up. Or somewhere in Québec-City if you want.
Duration: 7 hours
Transit, crowd on the tasting places, weather (we won't go to the canyon if the weather is bad) and winter (many places, including the canyon, are close during winter).
Transportation between the sites will be ensured by car.
We can use your car or mine.
I've a Subaru Legacy with 3 comfortable seats, but if you're 4, it will be tight for 3 of you (it depends on your size). I already did it, but some people prefer a larger car.
For a bigger car, please contact me now (car renting as extra cost).
My services as private guide.
Transportation fees for transit (gas, mileage).
Of course I can help for anything you need to know about Quebec City and its surroundings.
Estimated Local Cash Needed
25 $CAD - Most of the places accept credit cards and even US$ in cash.
It's hard to say now the right amount of the local payments. It depends on the number of tastings you would like to do and the sites we visit.
For example :
- cost of most of the tastings : 5$/pers.
- entrance fee for the waterfalls : 12$/car.
- St. Anne Basilica : free, but donations are welcome.
- Canyon St. Anne : 13,50$/pers.
- The products you'll buy.
- Tickets, tastings and entrance fees.
- Funicular (not mandatory).
- Lunch (I can join you if you would like).
Why tickets, tastings and entrance fees aren't included ? Because it's a private tour ! Every tour is different : maybe you would like to taste more wine rather than go to the canyon and I don't want you pay for things you're not going to taste or see. Even during the tour you can change your minds and ask to skip one place to go to another.

We were most fortunate to have Xavier show us Quebec City and environs. Altho Italian by birth, his knowledge of the area and its history were amazing. He speaks English very clearly which helped us as we have hearing difficulties. He geared our tour to what we were most interested in seeing. In 4 hrs. we enjoyed beautiful autumn countryside, rural neighborhoods, a very thorough tour of Basilica of St. Anne, many historical monuments, the "old town" and learned so much from Xavier about local customs.
