A visit focused on the Duomo, the Belltower and Baptistery and the exceptional newly restored museum of the Opera Del Duomo
Santa Maria del Fiore is one of the most famous cathedrals of the world and the 4th largest. Its Dome is a miracle of architecture. The Baptistery and Giotto's belltower have a long and interesting history with its symbols and reliefs, represent an important period of the Florentine past and culture. This tour will focus on these 3 places and the newly restored Museum of the Opera del Duomo, originally the workshop used by Filippo Brunelleschi to store the materials and machinery for the construction of the Dome, then also the place where Michelangelo carved the David and where other sculptors worked for the reliefs and statues decorating the Cathedral. The museum also hosts the original doors of the Baptistery and a breathtaking same size reconstruction of the original medieval facade. We will see some of the machines used to build the Dome and the famous Michelangelo second original Pietà, hosted in the museum.

Elena was an awesome guide. We had seven in our group and were only in Florence for one day. She met us at the train station and took us to straight to the Accademia where she had reserved our tickets. We bypassed the long line at the museum which saved much time. She then took us to the Duomo and was extremely knowledgable on the history, architecture and design. She was very kind and answered all of our questions. Her English was excellent. We highly recommend her and hope to see her again.
