On this tour I will guide you in Tomar and Fatima
Tomar was declared a World Heritage Site because:
"Originally designed as a monument symbolizing the Reconquest, the Convent of the Knights Templar of Tomar (transferred in 1344 to the Knights of the Order of Christ) came to symbolize just the opposite during the Manueline period - the opening up of Portugal to other civilizations. "
142 km (88 miles) North of Lisbon, Fátima is one of the most important shrines of the world dedicated to the Virgin Mary. This Sanctuary welcomes millions of pilgrims and tourists from all over the world. The fame of this place is the result of the Apparitions of Our Lady of the Rosary to three shepherd children Lúcia and her cousins, Francisco and Jacinta that, between May and October of 1917, witnessed successive apparitions. The last one, on October 13th, was confirmed by a miracle witnessed by 70, 000 people.

We had a spectacular tour of Tomar, Alcobaça, and Batalha with Paulo. Driving from Lisbon through the beautiful Portugal countryside he gave interesting commentary along the way. Paulo led us through the amazing Convent of the Knights Templar and the Batalha and Alcobaça monasteries. Paulo's guided tours through these sights were excellent due his extensive knowledge and desire to share his insights with us. Paulo gives truly excellent tours of his beloved country, and we recommend him most highly.
