Let's feel the spirit of samurai with all your senses
Japan flourished under the reign of the Tokugawa Shogunate in Tokyo, in the 16th and 17th centuries. The founder of the Tokugawa Shogunate was from Aichi prefecture. He made orders to build a huge castle tower to show off his power in Nagoya, the capital of Aichi, and his 9th son ruled over this region.
The Main Palace adjacent to the Main Tower was a complex for a landlord to lead his official and private life.
These are the main features at Nagoya Castle. At the Tokugawa Art Museum, valuable artworks which have been owned by the Owari Tokugawa families will delight your eyes.
The Nagoya Castle Main Tower is closed until 2022 for a full restoration in a wooden structure. The demolition work will start next year.
Come and witness the historic first step of its reconstruction since this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
The tour inside the Main Palace is available and it always gives us a feeling of awe, taking us back to the samurai world with its traditional craftsmanship.
