In the meantime I did several courses on history, art history and I also graduated with a strong interest in gastronomy.
I came to this region of Alentejo in the South of Portugal in 1993 and with my family, we run a small hotel with restaurant until 2014. In that time I was always organizing circuits that combined history, gastronomy and culture.
I am currently 100% dedicated to guided tours in Évora and surroundings, and to cooking classes in a hands on basis, offering to those who visit us, the option to learn to cook and also the history of our food and our traditions.
I share with my husband, professor of history in Évora, the passion to continue to keep on becoming more and more about our history.
What fascinates me most is to show, step by step, as we walk through our lanes and monuments, our history, our traditions and lead people to perceive how this whole puzzle of different styles and centuries makes sense, today, in what Can be seen and in what we, Portuguese, are, with pride.
It's a great pleasure to share this feeling with you.
A Recent Review of this guide
Sofia managed to condense in a few hours the long history of Roman, Moorish, Christian and (as an unscheduled bonus) Jewish Évora, walking us around the beautiful city and showing us the most representative sites. She is extremely well-informed, pleasant, and has a great sense of humor.

As Évora is an Unesco town, you need comfortable shoes. In Summer take a hat with you and fresh clothes.
