Explore a traditional earth-oven experience. An umu is an underground earth-oven - you are an active participant and taking part in the preparation of this umu. See how it was done in ancient times and how it's done in the present day - little has changed. Understand our umu history & culture. You will also receive step-by-step instructions from an Island Umu Chef. Learn how to cook an umu. Whilst the umu is being cooking underground, you will also be taught how to husk a coconut as well as tasting the coconut juice and flesh, fresh from a coconut tree. It's alot of fun. Learn about the Coconut Tree - the Tree of Life. Then enjoy an "All you can Eat" Buffet of delectable Island Cuisine made by yours truly - YOU! Participate with your group, prepare an earth-oven, learn about the history and indulge in a meal together. There is no other tour like this one in the Cook Islands. One and only unique tour! Must have a minimum of 4 people to book this tour.
Meeting Location + Tour Duration
Meeting location: We are happy to meet with you at your accommodation or preferred place of location. Please enter the name and village (area) of your hotel. If Cruise Ship, please enter the name of the Cruise Ship and date you will be arriving. If there is a specific place or area you would like us to pick you up, please let me know.
End location: I can drop you off anywhere. Usually I drop you off at your hotel or accommodation. If I have picked you up at the port or airport then I can drop you off at the same place of pickup.
Duration: 4 hours
This tour is not affected by Rain. The umu preparation is under cover and the umu underground area is also under cover..

Sunday is a sacred day in the Cook Islands. Many of the Main Shops in the Avarua town is closed. There are some activities available on the Sunday. I am only available to advise and recommend what to do on the Sunday.
