An extensive walk through one of the six neighborhoods of Venice
Dorsoduro is the Southern part of Venice and one of the liveliest districts in town.
Our walk starts in front of the Accademia Galleries and crosses the entire length of the neighborhood. From the former Custom House of the Republic down to San Trovaso and campo San Barnaba.
On our way we encounter, among others, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, the François Pinault Collection - two among the most renowned museums of contemporary art in town, - the Squero - one of the last Gondola-yards of Venice - and much more, included funny stories about Venice's origins and a full set of curiosities connected to our days life.
The walk starts near the Accademia bridge, from the top of which you can enjoy one of the most beautiful views on the Grand Canal.
We head to the easternmost tiptoe of Dorsoduro, the so called 'Punta della Dogana', the former Custom House of the Republic. We pass by the Peggy Guggenheim Museum and the Salute church, one of the plague churches of the city.
We walk back through the 'Zattere', a long and bright embankment with a wonderful view on the Giudecca island. We reach the inner side of the district encompassing beautiful squares and churches and, last but not least, one of the last gondola-yards of Venice.
The tour ends back to the Accademia bridge.
