Explore Cuchi Tunnels with 1/2 day + Local Lunch
Cu Chi tunnels are an immense network of connecting underground tunnels located in the Cu Chi district which are 70 kilometers North West of Ho Chi Minh City. They are part of a much larger network of tunnels of around 200Km long that is well known nationwide and worldwide. The Cu Chi tunnels were the location of several military campaigns during the Vietnam War. The underground network provided meeting rooms, sleeping quarters, commanding rooms, hospitals, and other social rooms. Visit to the Cu Chi tunnels provides a better understanding of the prolonged resistance war of the Vietnamese people and also of the persistent and clever character of the Vietnamese nation. From 1988, two sections of the tunnels have been open for visitors.
08:00am I will pick up you at hotel depart to Cuchi Tunnels with a pleasant 65km drive through the beautiful countryside with paddy fields and rubber plantations. You are going to visit a massive underground network located near by the area once called "Iron Triangle" and was the termination of the Ho Chi Minh Trail. The tunnels were designed by local guerrillas as a "springboard for attacking saigon. "
The area was used for infiltrating Saigon-intelligence agents, part cadres, and sabotage teams. The Tết Offensive of 1968 was prepared and the necessary troops and supplies assembled in the Tunnels. The tunnels were used by Viet Cong guerrillas as hiding spots during combat, as well as serving as communication and supply routes, hospitals, food and weapon caches and living quarters for numerous guerrilla fighters. The role of the tunnel systems was so important to the Viet Cong in resisting American operations and protracting the war, and eventually persuading the weary Americans into withdrawal.
