Where locals still gather in centuries old London neighbourhoods
This tour is in central London but contains many hidden gems that are hard to find and that Londoners are mostly unaware of.
Vibrant new meets the old and historical in Soho and Covent Garden. I believe this is where London's true history lies, in the streets that inspired the works of Charles Dickens and William Blake, in theatres where kings fell in love with famous actresses, and in small venues where the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and David Bowie launched their careers.
Interesting old sights include London's oldest theatre and the 300 year old Covent Garden Piazza; but what makes these areas so fascinating is that these areas are so young and vibrant, little businesses making use of old homes and warehouses, we'll pass famous cheese shops, coffee shops, donut shops. . . We'll mostly focus on the locations and history, but by the end of the tour you'll have a list of places you'll want to revisit for a taste of 'old and new' London.
We'll meet at your hotel, or other agreed location in London.
During the tour we'll visit:
Historical Soho Square,
Old pubs and other locations that feature in works by Charles Dickens,
London's oldest restaurant, french patisserie and theatre,
Fun sixties rock'n'roll locations such the old venue where David Bowie and the Rolling Stones played their first ever concerts,
London's oldest jazz club,
The West End/ 'Theatre-land',
Historical Covent Garden market and piazza,
Quaint back streets of Covent Garden.
At the end, we'll finish back at your hotel, or other agreed upon spot.

Jason is a fabulous tour guide, friendly, & engaging! He answered our questions in what seemed an effortless manner--his knowledge is amazing. We emailed our interests and questions in advance. He responded quickly and thoroughly. He tailored our tour to us. As we walked, he showed us historic spots of interest we'd surely have missed on our own. He has a remarkable familiarity with the area we toured, its history, past & present, & what he calls his "fun facts." We highly recommend him as a guide.
