A Journey to Jerusalem of the east

The oldest Indian Jewish community is in Cochin, a group of people once known as the "Malabar Jews". But actually the first settlement of the Cochini Jews wasn't in Cochin but a little north from Cochin in the town of Kodungallur, an ancient sea port formerly called Cranganore by Portuguese, Muziris by Romans & Greeks and Shingly by Jews. The community, which began in the 4th century, moved to Cochin in the 14th century, and built new synagogues there. We will explore these synagogues and more on this tour.

Destination will cover
1. Chendhamangalam Synagogue
2. Paravour Synagogue
3. Mala Synagogue
4 Kadavum bagam synagogue
5. Jewish Cemetery
6. Handloom weaving center
