Come learn in a delicious way about Amsterdam's history and the trade in spices
Stimulate all your senses in this private chocolate & spice tour and tasting! Our chocolate & spice shop is located in the old harbour of Amsterdam, the Red Light District.
From the 17th century the United Dutch East India Company (VOC) had a monopoly position on the trade in spices, that made Amsterdam a rich and powerful city.
Nowadays Amsterdam has the biggest cacao harbour in the world, we will pass by places important to the VOC/Golden Century.
Let me amaze you with the real and pure tastes of our single origin chocolates! In my workspace next to the shop I make chocolates every day. A bar of single origin chocolate from the Atlantic Rainforest in Brazil has a unique taste, as well as our single origin bars from the island of Grenada, Papua, Congo, Vietnam, etc. Make a small journey around the world with me!
Ofcourse I love to let you taste some of my home made chocolates, some spicy, some salty, etc. And I have glasses of water ready for you to take in between all the chocolate tasting!
- small private walk with highlights of the VOC (Former East Dutch India Company)
- hear about the story of the VOC and see/touch/taste the spices they traded in.
- single origin chocolates from all over the world, taste the differences between regions, cacao percentages and special recipes.

This tour was outstanding. Not only did we learn about chocolate & spice, Salome gave us some of the history of the red light district. There was only 5 of us on the tour. Salome and her sister spent over an hour in her shop talking about chocolate and the different countries it came from. Our group was very happy with this tour and all the different samples we tried. I would recommend this tour to everyone and tell them it was great.
