Allow me to be your personal guide to this beautiful city that I love so much. It would be my pleasure to show you the best that Chicago has to offer.
I've been a tour guide for 25 years and consider it a great joy to do this for a living. I bring passion, knowledge, and humor to my tours. I want to give you the best experience and the most accurate information so that you come away happy . . . and maybe a little in love with Chicago.
Growing up, my family moved between Milwaukee and Chicago. I know and love both cities, but when studying architectural history, I knew I had to be where the architectural action has long been: Chicago. When I had the chance, I made this my forever home.
Chicago is a surprising city. Many of my guests are surprised by the beauty: architectural and natural, others by the cleanliness and the spaciousness. Many people are surprised at what a water-oriented city we are, focused on our inland sea, Lake Michigan, and how we love our boats and beaches, and our Riverwalk. We are a city of world-renowned music, art, food, and museums. We are a big, bustling city that happens to be Midwestern friendly.
I bring a "big picture" approach to my tours. For every story, every building, I provide you with context to enhance its meaning, touching on many aspects of Chicago's story. Indeed, so much of Chicago's history, art, and architecture is connected. I love threading these themes together to give you the full view.
I will customize a tour experience for you, based on your interests and your time. Chicago is easily doable by foot and public transportation, but we can opt for a taxi or Uber/Lyft, or I will definitely arrange for a private car if that makes more sense for your itinerary (with a bit of advance notice). We can relax and enjoy some of the best cuisine and beverages anywhere, focusing on restaurants and bars that have fascinating Chicago history.
I bring along a gallery of historic images and video and music clips on my iPad to enhance your experience of the city. I am also more than happy to photograph you and your group with some of the most stunning backdrops in the city.
I am available 7 days a week including public holidays. I appreciate at least a week's notice of your tour date(s), so I can prepare well for you. I'd be happy to help you plan your itinerary before you come to Chicago, as well. I believe in taking care of my guests with personal customer service.

A Recent Review of this guide
Wendy was amazing. She provided a funny, fascinating overview of Chicago and completely captivated a bus full of relatives in town for the Northwestern graduation. With an audience ranging from 21 to 90, Wendy was able to appeal to a wide range of interests and attention spans and always had a smile in her face. By the time our full day tour was complete Wendy had become part of the family. She was a highlight of our Chicago experience
