Arguably, the "best gorge" in Chania
A 7km gorge (4, 3 miles) that will show you all the grace of the Cretan varied relief and a great selection of its flora. From the indigenous "Diktamo" to orchids growing in the wild. Now, "better", "best" etc. are, certainly, not objective. "Best gorge" goes for the overall impression after having completed the route. It is an obvious feat, gratifying however, for the gifts that it brings; what you'll see are impressive cliffs and breathtaking vastness in a scenery of astonishing beauty forever changing. Nevertheless, once completing the gorge, you'll start to toy with the idea of taking the path back up to witness that wonder again. You won't have given your all. At the end of the day, Agia Irini (translates as St. Irene) is all about having a good time.
Moreover, you will find St. Irene quite "off-the-beaten-track" even in July and August and that's what gives this gorge its uniqueness. Still ancestral and surprising, it's heavenly!

Costas and his driver Nikos were amazing - gracious, extremely knowledgeable and terrific company for our entire family. Their enthusiasm, positivity and thoughtfulness made the hike through the gorge a wonderfully enjoyable experience that will be etched in our memories forever. Costas was flexible and considerate of our daughter's adventuresome nature and allowed additional time for her to do some cliff diving. We ended with a lovely lunch. The day was perfect in every way.
