The psyche of Cretans was forged on these mountains. A "village hopping" route that offers you a panorama of true Crete.
Tourism is a relatively recent activity on the island. It wasn't until the late 60's when a slowly but steadily growing vacation industry rose to be the giant that it is today.
On an island with such a long history and tradition, however, if one were to look for the roots they would have to go back, leaving the shores and looking for the places where people traditionally lived off agriculture and livestock with that everlasting bond to mother earth. No land in Chania tells this tale better than Apokoronas. There's nothing pretentious here. Far from the lights of the booming gleaming centres, it's these soft earthly lines that stand out whispering: This is real life!
-From your place of lodging within the greater Chania area or the port to the first village of our tour.
-Then it's either a hike a nearby monastery where our driver will be waiting to pick us up or a visit to our next village for some meze dishes or a drive by the mountain villages ending with a stroll in the last one for this tour, in any order you prefer. Generally, it's all up to you, depending on the start time, your mood etc. We could include new options or take out some to make this excursion to your absolute liking, with a customized tour. Since it's a "hopping" tour the possibilities are many and they are all focused towards one thing. Making you feel like a Cretan for a few hours.
- Return to where we picked you up or to any place that you want within the greater Chania area.
** In case of bad weather, we can wait for the next day with good weather to take the tour or, after prior communication, opt for a tour to protected venues e. g the "Cretan Palate" or the "Cook-out" tour

End location: The tour ends where it started unless you prefer another location. I could provide you with suggestions on what to do next depending on your preferences.
Duration: 6 hours
In this tour, the duration relies pretty much on how you would like to arrange your schedule; that is, if you 're more of an adventurer and would like to include the hike to St. George's monastery or if you 'd prefer to spend your time like the locals in a kafenio with some meze (Greek tapas) plates. But in general it fits in a 6 hour schedule, or if it's a cruise you have to get back to it can be shortened if necessary.
