The "Golden Horseshoe Route" as the name implies forms a so called "horseshoe curve". Plus, this tour is titled as "Golden" because it's the most popular one among the out-of-the-town trips in the Lviv region. A Recent Review of this tour

The tour in a comfortable SUV took us through peaceful countryside to three dilapidated castle palaces of seventeen century Polish nobility, mainly related to the then powerful Polish king Jan Sobieski. The grand estates, now located in independent Ukraine, are in a desperate need of renovation, but still impress with majestic hilltop locations and breathtaking views of the surrounding areas. The tour is great for history buffs, especially those with some relevant background interest.
