medieval heritage of Belarus
There was a country of knights who fought against aliens desperately. There were many castles as a protection belt around the country. One called Belarus as a "Country of castles". The knights died at the final battles, the country was occupied by the cunning neighbors, but the castles survived. They are the witnesses of the glory of the past. They will tell you a Story, and I'll just help them connect you with the heroic and exciting past of the Belarusians. . .
Mir and Niasviž castles belonged to the Radziwills, the most powerful family of Belarus and Lithuania (at that times the countries belonged together). That walls observed luxurious dancing balls as well as cruel attacks of the Russian and the Swedish forces. For the ages they preserved secrets and treasures of the family rich and powerful as a Royal Court. . . Beautiful old parks with lakes, small and calm towns with a number of churches of different confessions will strengthen the impression of the fascinating and multicultural history of the coun
Me and a driver, we'll pick you up at the lobby of your hotel in Minsk (free) or at airport (for a cost).
The way to the castles takes approx. 1. 15 - 1. 30 hour. During the way you'll have a short brief of the history of Belarus. Who are the Belarusians? What are their origins? What is the meaning of the word "Belarus" and what does mean "Black Russia"? Who built the castles? What was the context? How the modern state rised up? how is it connected with the castles and the medieval state? What is the economy of modern Belarus?. . The time will pass quickly.
We'll visit the first castle (doesn't matter which one would be the first), its main museum and its environs (old town & old park). At your desire, we could stop for a lunch in a local cafe. Then we'll go to the second castle (the way takes 30 min) and explore it by the same plan: the castle itself, its main museum, the old town, the old park.
On the way back we'll chat about politics, religion, nationality, drugs. . All forbidden topics are in use now!)

Raman was an informed, professional guide and his partner driver Alex was full of smiles on what was a dreary rainy day in Belarus. The castles are both very worth seeing, each different and interesting. Raman took us to every nook and cranny, no matter the number of stairs to get there. It was fantastic. We then had a visit to the town of Mir and they found a lovely place for lunch. The communication before hand was excellent and arrangements were simple and timely.
