A visit to Ayrshire and the home of Robert Burns 1759-1796
Robert Burns is Scotland's Bard or National Poet. He lived most of his life near the ancient town of Ayr. His poetry has touched the lives of people throughout the world. He is referenced by many writers and other poets including Keats, Bob Dylan, John Steinbeck, Abraham Lincoln and surprisingly Mohamed Ali.
His works include one of the worlds most popular songs (Auld Lang Syne), My love is like a a Red Red Rose, Scot's Wha Hay (Scotland's National Anthem) and Tam O' Shanter.

Itinerary

Collect from Hotel or Cruise ship and travel to South West Scotland, The county of Ayrshire (Burns Country).

The trip involves a visit to his birthplace (Burn's Cottage) in Alloway. A guided tour of the cottage and grounds.
Lunch at the visitor centre (Haggis and Neeps).
Entry to the visitor centre.
A walk around the Memorial , Gardens and finally Auld Alloway brig (bridge).
Departing the centre a tour around the town of Ayr.
Driving north along the beautiful Ayrshire coast overlooking the Firth of Clyde and the Isle of Arran in the distance.
Stopping off at Nardini's Ice ceam parlour(a Scottish Institution) in Largs to enjoy an ice cream.
Largs is the site of the Battle of Largs (1263) when Scotland under Alexandercdefeated the Vikings under Haakon of Norway.
following the coast around by Wemyss Bay Gourock and Greenock back to either Greenock Ocean Terminal or your hotel.
